Breedlove Student Intern MA's

The Breedlove Student Medical Assistant Program gives college students interested in healthcare careers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy dermatology practice. These student intern medical assistants are enrolled at Oklahoma State University and are actively pursuing undergraduate degrees with plans to apply to medical school or PA school.. Some students have already been accepted into competitive programs, while others are still working toward that goal.

The program gives students the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Breedlove and the clinical team while learning about patient care, skin cancer detection, acne treatment, pathology, and the day-to-day realities of independent medicine.

At the end of each clinic day, Dr. Breedlove gathers the student interns for a “What Did You Learn Today?” session. Similar to rounds in medical training, it is an opportunity for students to review the patients they saw, discuss diagnoses and treatments, ask questions, and reflect on what stood out to them. These conversations help students strengthen both their clinical knowledge and their ability to communicate with patients in a thoughtful, reassuring way.
